The same services bought separately, against one bundle
  • Separate plans, real monthly costs added up
  • The bundle's real monthly cost
  • The gap: cheaper on paper, or the price of convenience

Compare like with like

2 short paragraphs

Take the real monthly cost of the bundle. Then add up the real monthly cost of the same services bought separately. If the bundle is lower, it is cheaper on paper. If it is higher, you are paying for convenience.

Use real monthly cost, not the headline price, on both sides. A bundle with a low first-year price and a big jump afterwards can look better than it is.

Check that the contracts line up

1 short paragraph

A bundle usually has one contract length for everything in it. If you want to change one service later, you may have to leave the whole thing, and exit fees can apply. Separate plans let you move one at a time.

Convenience is real, but it has a price

1 short paragraph

One bill and one support contact are genuine benefits. They are worth paying a little extra for if they matter to you. They are not worth paying a lot extra for, so it helps to know the gap.

Be honest about what you will use

1 short paragraph

If you live alone and use a small amount of mobile data, a bundle built around a large allowance may not suit you. Include only the services you need in the comparison, and leave out extras you would not buy on their own.

A quick checklist

1 short paragraph

Is the bundle's real monthly cost lower than the separate plans added together? Do the contract lengths work for you? What happens to the price when any promotion ends? What would it cost to leave early? If you can answer all four, you can decide with confidence. The Bundle Builder on this site can help you work through your options.

Common questions

Is a bundle always cheaper than separate plans?

No. Sometimes it is, sometimes it is not. Compare the bundle's effective monthly cost with the total of the separate plans you would otherwise choose.

What if I only need one service?

Then a bundle is unlikely to help. Compare single plans for that service and keep the contract as flexible as you need.
